Natural cosmetics for men: care for skin & hair
The demand for natural cosmetics is increasing. Interest in natural cosmetics specifically for men's skin is also growing, so it's great that you're here! There's actually an important reason why cosmetics specifically for men's skin are available: compared to women, men have much thicker skin and a lower pH level. In addition to environmental influences, shaving also puts additional strain on the facial skin of many men. Here you'll learn what exactly constitutes natural cosmetics, which seals are truly meaningful, and why not every face cream is necessarily the right one for you.

High-quality natural cosmetics – intensive care for men
You know by now that many cosmetics are full of microplastics, silicones, and other harmful substances. And you also know that this really doesn't have to be the case anymore. There are more and more alternatives to conventional cosmetics that do without precisely these. In the FAQs , you'll find a more detailed list of conventional and natural cosmetics. What you used to only be able to find in health food stores or organic food stores can now increasingly be found in drugstores or online. The selection and product range is slowly but surely expanding: From face cream and body lotion to shaving care products and beard care , you'll find care products that will make your current, conventional products look outdated.

In addition to various environmental influences, diet and stress also have a major impact on your skin, hair, and general appearance. Have you noticed that you usually find yourself more attractive when you're in a good mood and relaxed? For example, on vacation? Well, it could be that simple 😉 But since we're not all permanent vacationers, you shouldn't expose your skin to additional stress from harmful substances in your cosmetics. In addition to plenty of sleep, sufficient water, exercise, and a balanced diet, you can support your skin brilliantly from the outside by pampering it with high-quality care products. The phrase "skin food" can be found on many packaging these days—and the term explains it well: cosmetics are your skin's food—and by now you can probably imagine why microplastics, chemical irritants, and the like shouldn't be "eaten" by your skin.

How do you recognize natural cosmetics?
Unfortunately, the term "natural cosmetics" is not protected. If you're already a bit familiar with the topic, you can read the label and INCI. However, it's easier to look for seals. Seals provide a certain level of security and indicate a certain quality standard. Unfortunately, many seals are very... relaxed about their guidelines. It's important that the cosmetics have been certified by independent quality seals. The best known and best are, for example, NATRUE, BDIH, and ECOCERT. If you want to avoid certain ingredients, or if ethical and vegan production or something else (or everything) is important to you, it's worth checking the guidelines of the respective seal. Yes, annoying. You can do a quick check with apps like CodeCheck (no ads), which shows you which (questionable) ingredients a product contains by scanning the barcode. Or you can pay particular attention to the NATRUE, BDIH, and ECOCERT seals. At Brooklyn Soap, for example, many products are NATRUE certified, vegan, and some are even organic. We've summarized a few highlights of the guidelines for you in the FAQs.

CAUTION: Natural or near-natural cosmetics adhere to the guidelines for natural cosmetics, but are not certified and can therefore either be truly natural, sustainable, and organic, or simply greenwashing. It's important to examine the product and the company philosophy. Just because a product isn't certified doesn't mean it isn't a high-quality, natural cosmetic and doesn't meet some or all of the guidelines for natural or organic cosmetics.
Natural cosmetics – more than valuable ingredients
Every step counts. Even if it doesn't seem like it, choosing natural cosmetics has a significant impact compared to conventional products – on you and the environment. Therefore, it's all the better if you use products from brands that don't "just" use natural ingredients. This makes it easier for you as a consumer to have an even more positive impact. Many companies also pay attention to fair resource use and ethical and social production in their natural cosmetics. Shipping and employee treatment are also additional plus points.
Switching from conventional cosmetics to natural cosmetics – suitable for all skin types
Do you have sensitive or demanding skin, have finally found a product that works well for you, and are afraid to try something new? Understandable. Rest assured: Natural cosmetics are generally suitable for every skin type, as they support your skin's natural processes. But if you're unsure, consult your dermatologist first.
CBD is a miracle ingredient, especially for sensitive skin . Thanks to its soothing and antibacterial properties, CBD is a huge hit in cosmetics . You can find the active ingredient in face creams , body washes , cleansing gels , and much more.
Every skin type has different needs and should therefore be treated individually. That's why you shouldn't just use your friend's or roommate's cosmetics – unless you happen to have exactly the same skin type. The cool thing is: CBD is suitable for all skin types – even demanding ones.

The cannabidiol used in creams soothes skin cells and reduces free radicals, which in turn has a positive effect on skin aging. In general, CBD helps your skin regain balance and counteracts hormonal reactions and stress. So, if you have sensitive or demanding skin, CBD face creams or a CBD body wash are worth a try for long-term skin support. With this ingredient, too, you should make sure that the cosmetics are natural.
Remember how you usually feel more attractive and comfortable on vacation? FAQ
What is the difference between organic and natural cosmetics?
For natural cosmetics, at least 5% of the ingredients must be certified organic. For organic cosmetics, at least 10% must be certified organic, and at least 95% must be plant-based. Organic is therefore even more "green" than natural cosmetics. These products are often more expensive than other cosmetics, but you usually get high-quality ingredients. If the product is certified, you can assume it's of high quality. Without a certificate, you'll need to read the INCIs, scan the product, or do a quick Google search.
Conventional cosmetics vs. natural cosmetics
Natural cosmetics support your skin and have long-lasting benefits. Conventional cosmetics often focus on quick fixes and results, which causes long-term problems. Covering up instead of supporting the skin's self-regulation—take your pick. Natural cosmetics are also always cruelty-free. However, this does not mean the product is vegan; look for additional labels or ingredients for this.
Conventional cosmetics primarily use synthetic ingredients that are harmful to humans and the environment (but are legally permitted), mineral oil-based raw materials, and silicones that disrupt and impede the skin's self-regulation. The cultivation of the raw materials, the manufacturing process, and the packaging are also unregulated. The advantage: the products are often cheaper.
Natural cosmetics (certified!) primarily use natural ingredients, exclude harmful substances, and avoid silicones and mineral oil-based raw materials. There are strict regulations throughout the entire production cycle. Furthermore, natural cosmetics support your skin's own natural healing process and deliver long-term results—without making your skin dependent on the product.
What exactly does NATRUE do?
NATRUE prohibits synthetic perfumes, silicones, and microparticles. Surfactants must be biodegradable, and genetically modified organisms are prohibited. The entire production chain, from raw materials to manufacturing and packaging, is controlled by NATRUE, subject to strict regulations, and re-inspected every two years. The list of regulations and prohibited substances is long, but you can view it online and read it at your leisure – especially if certain aspects or ingredients are important to you, for example, if you are allergic or pay particular attention to a sustainability aspect when purchasing your products.
NATRUE gives you the assurance that the product is truly organic and/or natural cosmetics and is regularly and independently tested.
