Skin care for men – tips for well-groomed men’s skin
Skin care is no longer just a woman's issue. More and more men are placing importance on a well-groomed appearance. A good sense of style and a fashionable hairstyle alone aren't enough. Skin should be healthy and beautiful, so you should make skin care an integral part of your skincare routine—especially during the colder season. Learn how to perfectly tailor your skincare routine to your skin and what to look out for in this article.

What does men's skin need? Know your skin type
Your skin is your largest organ and is exposed to all kinds of environmental influences every day, such as cold, heat, sunlight, and particulate matter. To keep your skin looking young and well-groomed for a long time, it requires at least a minimum of skincare. Anyone who thinks that using your friend's or roommate's moisturizer once a week is enough is disappointed: Women's and men's skin are fundamentally different and have different needs. Due to higher testosterone levels and higher sebum production, men's skin may be thicker and more robust, but it is also more prone to blemishes, for example. To ensure your skin gets exactly what it needs, it's important to know your skin type. With a little observation, you can determine your skin type quite easily:
Sensitive skin
You can recognize sensitive skin by its tendency to redden quickly and its initial itching or burning sensation from most products. Therefore, you should avoid skincare products containing ingredients like alcohol, parabens, dyes, or fragrances and instead use products specifically developed for sensitive men's skin.
Dry skin
The best way to identify dry skin is to look at your T-zone. The T-zone is the area around your forehead, nose, and chin. If these areas are dull, you can assume you have dry skin. In this case, rich moisturizers are particularly suitable, as long as you don't have any problems with blemishes.
Oily skin
Oily skin is characterized by a very oily T-zone. Notice if your skin's surface is very shiny. This indicates that your skin is oily and needs a lighter skincare routine. This includes mattifying moisturizers and gels, which are best used in the morning. In the evening, a light serum is ideal for revitalizing your skin overnight.
Normal or combination skin
You can recognize normal or combination skin by its slightly shiny surface. Balance is key here. Treat it with a neutral facial moisturizer that provides moisture without overloading it with additional oils.
Start with clean skin
First, remove the dirt and excess oils that have accumulated on your facial skin throughout the day so your moisturizer can absorb properly. Mild cleansing gels are particularly suitable for daily cleansing, as they don't over-stress men's skin. For an even complexion, we recommend incorporating a scrub into your facial routine. It's best to exfoliate your skin once a week to remove dead skin cells. This will give your skin a fresher, healthier appearance.

Skin care for men – the right care for face & body
We fully understand those who don't want to commit to complex skincare routines. However, a few basics should be part of your facial and body care routine. Learn what your skin really needs and how to best care for it.

How should men care for their skin?
Cleanse your face and body thoroughly to remove dirt and optimally prepare your skin for care. When choosing a facial wash and shower gel, make sure the products are suitable for your skin type. After cleansing, your skin needs moisture. Depending on your skin type, it's best to use a Moisturizer or a light gel. For those of you with beards: Depending on your beard length and texture, use a beard balm and beard oil to keep your hair soft and moisturize the skin beneath your beard. If you use styling products on your beard, be sure to remove any residue every night with beard shampoo .
Men's facial / skin care in summer
Summer, sun, sunshine may be great for your mood, but your skin has a lot to deal with in the summer. Unfortunately, UV radiation is the worst enemy of healthy, youthful skin. Sun protection for face and body is therefore non-negotiable, as the saying goes. In the summer, you can switch to lighter formulations in your skincare products.

Face / skin care for men in winter
Dry, heated air and biting cold – winter puts healthy skin to the test. What your skin needs now is lots of love and an extra dose of moisture. Look for richer formulations in creams and body lotions and use gentle cleansers to avoid putting additional strain on your skin.
Hair care for men
There are tons of hair care products available these days, and you probably don't need half of them. The rule of thumb here is: It's better to use fewer, high-quality products, like a mild and moisturizing shampoo and good plant oils. How often you should wash your hair depends on how much sebum you produce and how many styling products you use. You can learn more about this in our hair care article .

5 tips for well-groomed men's skin
Disinfect your smartphone
How often do you actually disinfect your smartphone? You're probably like most people, and the answer is 'not often enough.' A lot of dirt and bacteria accumulate on your screen every day. So disinfect your screen regularly. Your skin will thank you!
Keep your hands off your face
Even if it's difficult, try to avoid touching your face with unwashed hands and never, ever squeeze pimples and blackheads. This can make blemishes worse and lead to nasty infections.
Pay attention to healthy eating
Yes, yes, admittedly, we've all heard the saying "You are what you eat" from our mothers once too often. But it's true. Your diet plays a huge role in the health of your skin. Avoid large amounts of alcohol, sugar, and highly processed foods, and make sure you eat enough fruits and vegetables. Easy as that.
Drink enough
Water. We mean water, of course. Our bodies are largely made up of water, and our skin needs plenty of moisture to stay healthy and fresh. Depending on your level of physical activity, you should drink at least 1.5 liters per day. As a general rule, drink approximately 1 ml of water per 1 kcal per day. With 2,500 kcal, that works out to 2.5 liters per day for adults.
Be active
Exercise is important for both body and mind and is a real hack for healthy skin. Exercise stimulates blood circulation in the skin, which improves the supply of oxygen and nutrients. When we sweat, our pores also open, allowing sebum and dirt to drain away more easily. After exercise, you should therefore cleanse your face and apply a light moisturizer.
