Beard straightening – How to make your beard smooth and soft
Your beard hairs aren't doing what you want them to? From now on, there's no more "bad beard days"! Learn how to tame even the most annoying beard hairs here.

What to do if your beard sticks out?
There are many factors that can cause your beard hairs to stick out: the growth direction dictated by your hair follicles, dryness, and nutrition. Even during the growth phase from short to long, your beard will grow unevenly and sideways, especially in the initial phase. This usually goes away on its own after a few weeks. Especially with curly beard hair, some curls don't curl as well as others, causing individual hairs to stick out. Or the curls simply make your beard look very bushy. There's nothing wrong with that, but if it bothers you, you can easily do something about it. The solutions are as numerous as the causes.

How do I get a smooth beard?
There are two different ways to trim your beard. It depends on how curly and long your beard is and your personal preference.

Option 1: Beard oil
You're probably already using beard oil . In addition to its conditioning properties, it can also slightly influence the structure and shape. However, this is only suitable for shorter or less unruly beards.
For a very dry beard, we recommend our Beard Softener . You can also use a beard brush to distribute the conditioning oil and smooth your beard hairs.
Option 2: Hairdryer and straightener
Especially for particularly unruly beard hairs, heat is the easiest and produces the best results. However, it's more time-consuming, and too much heat can damage your beard in the long run.
A hairdryer with heat control is best, as this allows you to avoid excessive heat. After washing and conditioning your beard, use a brush or comb to brush your beard in the desired direction , then follow with the hairdryer. Make sure you keep a distance of 10-15 cm to avoid damaging your beard with the heat.
When it comes to the straightening iron, you can either use a friend's or get a mini flat iron. The latter is much easier to use and heats up faster. Let your beard hair dry completely, brush it into shape, and then gently begin straightening.
The result will be particularly smooth! However, since your beard hair is directly exposed to intense heat, we recommend not using a straightener every day.

3 tips for a soft, smooth beard
#1: Wash your beard with beard soap and care for it with beard oil
Regardless of whether you want to straighten your beard or not, you should wash it regularly. It's best to get into the habit of a short beard care routine : Wash your beard with lukewarm water and every three days with a beard shampoo . Learn why you should avoid conventional shampoo here .
Rinse out the beard shampoo thoroughly and pat your beard dry. Now you're spoiled for choice: Argan oil and jojoba oil are particularly effective conditioning oils that provide moisture and reduce itching and flaking. Castor oil, on the other hand, can stimulate beard growth. Beard oil helps slightly frizzy hair take on a smoother shape.

#2: Comb and detangle your beard regularly with a beard brush
Now you can blow-dry your beard with a beard brush to smooth it. For a longer beard, a round brush is also a good choice. First, you should thoroughly detangle your beard hairs, then smooth them with the brush, followed by a hairdryer.

#3: Beard balm for styling
Beard wax or beard wax will help your beard maintain your desired beard style . A beard wax or oil and a beard brush in your pocket are a great pairing for getting your beard back into shape in the afternoon.

FAQ
Are there home remedies for a shaggy beard?
Our star, aloe vera, is back: The gel from the plant can smooth frizzy hair and condition your beard. Simply leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse it out with water. If you don't have beard oil on hand, a high-quality coconut oil will also work. Either leave it on like the aloe vera gel and rinse it out, or use it directly for styling. However, with a very frizzy beard, a hairdryer or straightening iron are almost essential.
How can I permanently straighten my beard?
This will be difficult. Since hair growth is continuous and new, frizzy hairs will grow back, there's no way to permanently straighten your beard. A chemical straightener or keratin treatment can help straighten your beard for a longer period of time, but be sure to read up on the risks and side effects of these treatments and consider whether it's really worth it for you.
Which is better: beard oil or beard balm?
Beard oil conditions your beard hair and the skin underneath even better than a styling product like beard balm. However, beard wax can tame your beard hair more effectively and provide hold. One doesn't exclude the other. You can use a beard oil as part of your grooming routine and follow it with a styling product.
