What you should know about beard growth and how to stimulate it

Why does hair grow at all? And why do some people have full beards while others have just a fuzz? With puberty, testosterone levels in the body rise, which stimulates beard growth. The older you get, the stronger your beard growth generally becomes. If you want to give your beard a boost, you can try special tools or care products for more beard growth. Stay away from miracle cures that claim to increase your testosterone levels in your blood! Doctors are generally your first point of contact when it comes to treatment with medications such as Minoxidil and Rogaine, or if you want to resort to therapy with hair growth products. Before you resort to drastic measures, however, there are a number of tips that can give your beard a growth boost:

Healthy eating

A diet rich in vitamins and proteins has a positive impact on your physical health and beard growth. Lentils, nuts, oatmeal, raw cacao, maca, fruits, and vegetables should be included daily. Biotin – or vitamin B7 – plays an important role in metabolism and is responsible for beautiful and healthy skin, hair, and nails. Biotin is available as a dietary supplement and is also contained in our Activator beard capsules – it occurs naturally in mushrooms, spinach, bananas, apples, walnuts, and oatmeal. Avocados, virgin olive oil, coconut oil, nuts, and pumpkin seeds – saturated and monounsaturated fatty acids – are great sources of fat for your testosterone levels. Furthermore, a healthy, balanced diet is generally good for faster and regular beard growth. Protein-rich foods, such as oats, nuts, celery, garlic, onions, and legumes, contribute to this, as does sufficient fluid intake (and while caffeine is great for hair growth, we don't mean coffee, but simply water or unsweetened tea).

Sports and strength training

You shouldn't inflict pain on yourself right now; it's not good for anyone—but regular exercise is important. Moderate- to high-intensity strength training significantly stimulates the body's own testosterone production through the release of natural androgen. Without exercise or training, the body produces only the bare minimum.

Selfcare and the right beard care routine

Stress hormones inhibit testosterone. How about a little self-care or a relaxing beard care routine? Good circulation in the face has a positive effect on growth. First, wash your beard with a beard shampoo for more beard growth , then apply a serum for more beard growth or a beard oil to your face and beard area and massage it in using circular motions. Of course, you can also gently brush it in with a beard brush . Alternatively (or in addition), you can also use a beard roller if you have little or no beard growth on your cheeks to stimulate circulation and thus support your beard hairs' growth. The evening is the perfect time for this. Another advantage: nutrients from care products are absorbed much better.

Sufficient sleep

Hand in hand with stress goes healthy and sufficient sleep. Especially before midnight, the body produces the most hormones, especially testosterone and HGH (growth hormone). Restless and insufficient sleep therefore also has a reducing effect on hormone production. So, sleep well!

The right nutrients

A thick, healthy beard starts with the right nutrients. Biotin is an essential building block, as it supports keratin production and strengthens the hair structure. Zinc contributes to cell regeneration and protects hair follicles from oxidative stress—a key prerequisite for healthy growth. L-cystine, a sulfur-containing amino acid, also plays a crucial role: It strengthens the hair structure from within and makes the beard more resilient. Niacin promotes blood circulation to the hair roots, improving their supply of nutrients. Panthenol soothes the skin, moisturizes, and supports regeneration, while vitamin F—a combination of essential fatty acids—conditions and protects skin and hair. Millet extract, rich in silicon and minerals, is also particularly valuable and strengthens the hair roots. Our Activator products specifically target these nutrients to effectively support your beard growth from the inside and out.

Genetic predisposition

Your beard growth is significantly influenced by your genetic predisposition – that can't be changed. But don't worry: Just because your father or grandfather didn't have a full beard doesn't mean you will. Beard growth takes time and continuous care. With the right routine and a little patience, you can get the most out of your individual growth. And whether you have a beard or not – true masculinity isn't defined by facial hair.
